Some of the questions I get the most are “Should I have a basement bathroom? What does a basement bathroom cost? Should I go with a half bath or full bath?”
OK, slow down! Let me take them one at a time.
Should I have a basement bathroom? Things to consider are:
- How many bathrooms do I have already? If you have a bathroom at the top of the stairs that is easy to get to. I would think twice before spending the money.
- How often will it be used? If you plan on using your remodeled basement for entertaining, you may not want your guests tramping through your house to use the rest room. If you plan on it mostly for your own basement office area or basement home theater maybe you want to save the money.
- Keep in mind you can always install a basement bathroom as a “Phase 2” at latter date. Once you have settled in to your newly remodeled basement you can then decide if it is worth the money.
FYI, of our customers that have opted for the wait and see approach, about 50% wound up installing a basement bathroom as a “Phase 2”
What does a Basement bathroom cost? That’s a loaded question but let me shed some light on the subject. Most half baths run about $7,500.00 most full baths run about $13,000.00. I know a lot of people have just stopped reading but there are many things that can affect the cost of a basement bathroom. How far are you away from drain lines? Do you need a grinder or “Up Pump?” What kind of floors and walls? Ceramic? Vinyl floor? Tub, shower or both? Dual sinks? All kinds of questions are involved in a basement bathroom, but don’t worry our experienced basement finishing designer can help you answer all of these questions.
Thank you for your Interest. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call. I love talking basements!!
